In my List i have 7 CP after taking the second relic in my army for the custodes. With ETC and killpoints i couldnt bring my original foot heavy guard plan that had close to 30 drops, i couldnt start each game in a 6-0 hole. I decided to go another way with the tank heavy force. To be fair maybe all the Russes are slightly overpriced but im hoping that the armour saturation factor plays in my favour. Pask should be a huge turn 1 target for everybody, but with the hellhounds ready to advance it would be foolish to ignore them and how they explode on a 4+ dishing out mortal wounds on the unwary. The basilisks are good armour hunters and can reach any table corner obviously.
The 3 man custode jetbike Supreme Command Detachment was something i added at the last minute. The custodes give a superb counter punch element to my list for a variety of things. 1) There is a strat for 1 CP i can use to after my company commander dies to make one of my shield captains my new Warlord and lets me pick a new warlord trait mid game. Can help me prevent slay the warlord and adding the trait midgame give me alot of versatility (do i add a 5+ FNP, maybe i add some deny the witch ability). In this scenario ill use the commander with the warlrod trait to get back my own CP when i spend it, use his warlord re-roll, than always try to have him dead by end of my second turn. 2) The lead dog of my 3 will have the 3+ invul and victor of the blood games strategem that lets me re-roll 1 failed dice each turn, the other 2 will simply fly around with thier near demon prince statline and protect my tanks. Im gonna have to test it out/work it out but id like to try positioning my custodes near a tank about to be charged close enough for me to heroic intervention and deal some damage without taking any back that phase. 3) all 3 of the custodes are Obsec, and so are the Russes in my spearhead (all but pask), giving me 3 obsec russes, 3 squads, and 3 jetbike captains with it.
Well see how it goes, part of the nature of the team event is having specialized lists that might not normally be a killer list in a singles event. My practise games sofar have semeed to have caught most people by surprise and if i can have any sort of list edge, and a low amount of killpoints i can give up, i hope i can atleast be in competative in each game i play.
