We played a 2k competitive game of Ultras Vs Chaos with Roberto and Magnito leading the charge.
Ultra Marines finished deployment first and got the +1 for the roll-off, but chaos with a roll of a 6 was able to go first. The marines couldn't seize the initiative.
Turn 1 saw Magnus smite the unit guarding Guilleman to do death, leading an open path for Magnus to charge in. He then cast Death Hex on Guilleman which removes his invulnerable save and it was successful. Then for his last spell Magnus cast the spell that gives himself a +1 invul bringing him to a 3++.
Turn 1 charge phase arrived and Magnus charged a Razorback, a Captain and Guilleman all at once, while the Daemon Prince of Tzeentch and some flesh hounds surrounded another razorback stopping it from leaving combat.
In the fight phase Magnus killed Guilleman in one round of attacks, with Dex hex still on him Guilleman had to make only 6+ saves. Guilleman was slain on turn 1 by Magnus. When it was time to roll to see if Guilleman returned he did not return.
Turn 1 for Ultra's saw them shoot everything they had into Magnus who had a 3++ rerolling 1's and a 6+ FNP save from his warlord trait. He did better than expected and brought Magnus down to 3 wounds.
Once the Ultras saw the untouched horde now on their footsteps at the beginning of turn 2 they decided to forfeit. The flesh hounds and both Daemon Princes were going to be charging the rest of the UM army while Magnus was safe in combat with a Flyer he consolidated into last turn, I agreed the game was most likely going to end in Chaos favor.
For being a short game I still had fun, hopefully my opponent did as well, I was looking forward to playing it out but gooch had a friend waiting on him so it's understandable why he would call it so early.
Game was good. it was a solid roll through the marines. After speaking at the end you were right, i should have started farther back. I was thinking in my head that Iwould go first but I forgot the ITC rule. Also, that spell that removed the invulnerables was a surprise. I did not know that you guys even had that! Gotta do another one again
i love the attitude you have about warhammer, i was thinking to myself when i read the battle report and chronic mentioned he hoped you had fun, and i was thinking to myself theres prolly not much fun in losing a game on the top of turn 1, but you learned something and are ready for the rematch, i love it. You should get a 50 man conscript blob in there protecting guilimons parking lot, or a culexis.
and ya that no invul save spell is ruthless. I look at how garbage my 3 spells i can choose from for my guard and have been looking for ways to mix in a space marine libby just for this power.
I am confident my list is good. I just need to play 100%. I forgot a few things, like models and parts of my army (i didnt put down my thunder fire cannon) due to smoking some reefers earlier. Next time my head will be in the game and me and Chronic will play another game, fo shoo!
