This was a honestly a good game and as always playing rob is a blast. I brought my army and every weakness I saw with it where true but the deep strike, and the assasin did it job solid. Maelstrom as always hurts me in any game I play but we where able to get into a draw thankfully due to my deep strike. Looking at robs army I have to say it was a solid list, had a good amount of assault elements, a solid anti infantry compliment and good anti tank. I will say if I had the army I want to bring agansit it next is well honestly a airborne mechanzied mix so when that day comes will have to get a solid rematch agansit rob :)
by maelstrum do you mean because your lack of mibility possibly? or because you drew poor cards?
I know that after canhammer i was a little sore that in 2 of my games my inability to draw scoring cards flat out lost my game, but than i played a ITC champions mission vs Brady the other day which dosnt use random maelstrum (and a host of other small things im not huge on like pre-set objective marker locations or to be fair the secondary scoring system which creates/drives the ITC meta), and i think despite its flaws, i still like drawing cards and adding that random element.
Ability to score and bad drawing. Bad drawing has always been a problem for me in maelstrum though will sasy it fair. Second really was teh ability to score, for me running a all infantry guard force I had a hard time being able to move up and secure the objectives and if it wasn't for my deep strikers and out flanking rough riders I wouldn't of been able to score. Also half my points I scored was due to first blood and also slaying the warlord.
Yeah will say drawing and the random is still great I do enjoy the idea just wish the gods had more favor for all parties lol.
Bad drawing is one thing but I'd argue that most of your "secure objective" draws were problematic cause I was controlling them. That's not a bad draw it was unfortunate cause you weren't able to displace me. Granted. We only got to the top of turn 3
Also true, will say if I just go to list building your list was the better list you had everything, solid firepower, solid mobility, and enough bodies to deal with attrition. Your troops and equipment had quite abit of quality and each unit was a solid threat through out the game. I will say if the game went on to the full length I would of been wiped out in the end and a solid loss. :) Like I said the guard list I brought was not really solid other then the deep strike strom troopers I could not really advance too much with out a lose of fire power to dislodge your troops.
Why Im thinking of how I really want to design the guard. I saw aspects of your army that was solid and I want to do a guard twist with it :)
