Greetings, my friends! I'm churning away at various fiddly bits on the site and doing some research on narrative campaigns. One of the best resources I've found (other than a bunch of examples from various folks on the Internet) is this site called, "Going on Campaign" (http://goingoncampaign.blogspot.ca/). It talks about how to go about organizing a campaign, scoring it, making it interesting and fun as well as the various mechanics that need to be in place to ensure success. I'm a pretty big fan of the site and I highly recommend it. That said, I'm also building the initial frame work for supporting narrative campaigns on the site. As always I'm suffering from "Better is the enemy of good". You see, it isn't too terribly hard to put a couple of content types in place to support narrative campaigns. I mean, really it's just text and pictures, right? But I want it to be more. I want folks to be able to see their battles associated with the narrative. I want the manager to be able to see the battles of all their players and apply the appropriate ones to the text of the narrative. I also think it'd be cool to allow other people to recreate the battle and have that information stored/displayed in some way. Thinking about all this is also kind of crafting how I go about implementing map based campaigns when I get to it but right now I need to focus on getting it so folks can craft a good looking narrative campaign on iToysoldiers and then run some battles with people who sign up to participate and then add narration based upon the battles fought. Tall order but I'm confident it'll be at least usable pretty soon. Wish me luck.
