Preparing a Legion Force for the Second Golloch War.

Hey everyone your friendly neighborhood heresy player here with another blog. Today I am talking about some prep work as well trying to get more people ready for this war. Now for those that don't know The Second Golloch War is currently playing out across the globe in a fight for the Golloch Sector. With 12 podcasts and channels working on a narrative that is ultimately decided by you the player, somthing on this scale has not been seen since the 13th black crusade and its a nice event for those that want to have some fun. You can find the page here at...

Imperial Assault: Leia Organa

Picked up the Leia expansion pack for IA awhile back with a few others and finally got around to painting it. The miniatures for IA are hit and miss and the quality is pretty poor in comparison with actual miniature manufacturers but it's a board game and hey it's still Star Wars and that makes it cool. I don't take a ton of time painting these miniatures since even a stellar paint job can only make a mediocre miniature look so good but for the time spent it looks just fine...

Guardsmen Melee Blob – My New Preferred Blob Configuration

Approximate Reading Time: 13 minutesYou can’t call the Guardsmen Melee Blob a Deathstar because its capacity to inflict death is not that great. Or is it? So it can be reduced to a simple star. Because it can become the star of a game for sure. This post on Reddit prompted me to write the Guardsmen Melee Blob because I think its worth writing about. Its fun, its effectiveness is unexpected and its fluffy. Guardsmen Melee Blob Composition Well lets get right into it. My most recent success with set up was using the Empyric Storm Cards and here is the Guardsmen Melee Blob was made; A maxed out...

Captaincon 2017 Recap

This past weekend February 3rd-5th I attended Captaincon 2017 in Warwick, Rhode Island. We had a record showing of players from Clockwork come this year. 8 of us showed up. My friends Andrew, Epic, Case, Sean, Matt, Scott, Dan, and I were all there for at least one day. There was much hilarity throughout the weekend with highlights includingPlaying in the team tournament for the first time with my Clockwork brethrenMany acapella "performances" of "The Breaking of the Fellowship" from Lord of the Rings (don't ask)Board games galore with "Rum and Bones" being the game of the weekend where...

Captaincon 2017 Painting Contest

For the first time I entered a formal painting contest at Captaincon 2017 this past weekend. I had a tough time actually deciding what to enter as several of my considerations I needed the models to be on the table for tournaments rather than sitting in a glass case all weekend. I decided to enter my Legion Blightbringer gargantuan. I wasn't using the model for any of my lists over the weekend and it is one of my better pieces. My entry fell into the Monster/Vehicle category and I was pretty happy to find out that my work had received first place!...

A Pile of Skulls (But Not For Khorne's Throne)

More Sci Fi Bystanders In January I decided to try to complete some of my Genestealer Cult Force, consequently I finished some of my Sci Fi civilians and personalities that have nothing to do with Genestealers. Oh well, that's nothing new. So on with the show; Blinged Up Bloke Here's the first one, a Moonraker Miniatures civilian from the Space Lords range. He can be used as a bloke going about his law abiding business, or other nefarious stuff. I do like the strut of this model, like he's pretty...

High Heavens Board Game

I picked up the two player tactical board game, "High Heavens" at Templecon 2016. This is a great little board game that has a good amount of tactical depth while still being able to be played in about 30 minutes. The theme of a cosmic struggle between the greek and norse gods is great and while the art and design of the miniatures is very nice, the production of the miniatures certainly leaves something to be desired. However, games with miniatures are so much more enjoyable if the minis are painted so I took a few hours and did a couple of quick test paint jobs for two of the greek gods,...

Empyric Storm Cards, One of the Best Games – 40K Blog

Approximate Reading Time: 7 minutesThe games are coming thick and fast at the moment for me. I recently had a 2,500 point battle between my Astra Militarum and Chaos using the second mission from the Gathering Storm book. We also used the Empyric Storm Cards which were fantastic fun and this article will detail the odd and wonderful moments the cards produced. The Mission The mission pits the Guard against waves of Chaos over eight turns. The Guard deploy in one half of the table with the board split down the long edge. At the start of the Chaos player’s turn they move on […] The post...
