Been working on my Legion force; making a priority of getting my beasts finished. Did a little repose on the heavy beast plastic kit and mounted it up on some "rocks" I made out of blue foam. The arms and heads have been magnetized so I can use it as a Carnivean, Scythean, or Ravagore. I'm doing the same with the Carnivean that came with the 2 player battlebox. ...
Greetings, my friends! I'm churning away at various fiddly bits on the site and doing some research on narrative campaigns. One of the best resources I've found (other than a bunch of examples from various folks on the Internet) is this site called, "Going on Campaign" ( http://goingoncampaign.blogspot.ca/ ). It talks about how to go about organizing a campaign, scoring it, making it interesting and fun as well as the various mechanics that need to be in place to ensure success. I'm a pretty big fan of the site and I highly...
I've never liked the idea of foam carrying bags for my miniatures so when I had to face the inevitable dilemma of transporting my miniatures, I decided to magnetize everything and use a custom made case. I've used this case (pictured below) for about a year and a half now without any major problems. I made it from a case that housed a Ridgid palm sander at one time and a bit of sheet metal. However, I've never been completely satisfied with this solution and have been ever on the lookout for something better. I seriously considered just dropping the cash on a Tablewar case as they ARE...
I got presents! One of 'em is a box of Dark Eldar Incubi. I've already started assembling 'em. Woo hoo! I'll get my army to 1850 again in no time. I also scored an Aquila Shrine for my gaming table and (not gaming related but certainly dorky) a signed copy of Terry Pratchett's new book. Yay! Incubi in Potentia
Woo hoo. I actually won a game with my World Eaters this weekend. I'm not going to detail the specifics of the battle here. That's actually going to be posted on the battle result on iToysoldiers over at http://itoysoldiers.com/node/2716 . Instead I'm gonna wax philosophical on the mission itself. We rolled up The Emperor's Will - a mission I haven't really looked at before. I'm sure I've played it but it was never one of my faves. For some reason I've always preferred Purge the Alien. From now on that's no longer going to be the...
Greetings, kids. I was chatting with Thade last week (before he crushed my army) about narrative campaigns and how to put them into place on iToysoldiers. Since then I've been giving it some serious thought. They appear popular. There's a whole whack of blogs/facebook pages/sites detailing the exploits of friends as they battle with their toy soldiers. There's even a site (can't remember where I saw it) that's opening in 2014 to allow people to participate in 'em. I kinda think that iToysoldiers could present a platform for authoring narrative campaigns and allow players to capture their...
Been slapping paint on spare models to try out different paint schemes for my Legion force I'm working on. I think I've settled on something and I painted up a Shredder to try it out on. It's not based yet and I'll probably touch up a few more things on the model, but I think I like the scheme. I am finding it difficult to photograph the blue. Lighting and background have to be just right in order for the colors to come through accurately in the picture. This is the best I could get. The colors are relatively close but the contrast in shading on the blue is a little lost and the scales just...
Greetings, my gamer friends! I really really really meant to get these posted much earlier (they've been ready for quite some time) but I've been working on iToysoldiers an awful lot and as a result my writing time has been eaten up. In any case...Here's photos and commentary from the three battles I fought at the November 40K tournament. But first... Some general commentary:I love Black Knight Games. The store is superb (lots of gaming space, great vibe, and clean bathrooms. Woot!). All my opponents were lovely. And patient with me. And brutal. So much fun to lose against. *snicker. I was a...
I've been toying with starting a Hordes faction for awhile now. I had initially settled on Circle but as I researched both factions I finally decided on Legion. I picked up the Hordes 2 player battlebox, 1 heavy beast kit, Angelius, 2 deathstalkers, sheperd, forsaken, Thagrosh 1, Absylonia, and Vayl 2. The semester's almost over and I'm looking forward to getting these all painted up.
