Slowly I've been working on my "Codex Storm Guard" project, writing history, special rules, and stories for my homebrewed Blood Angel successor. Unfortunately, GW doesn't have any good formations for the Angels (okay, maybe one, but I'm not buying 3 stormravens!) so I've decided to write my own. I have yet to field any of these, nor have they been playtested. Some are definately quite powerful, but I think they're in line with other formations out there. Enjoy! Skyfall Assault Force Few things can be more fearsome than seeing the glowing contrails of Drop Pods, Thunderhawks, and Stormravens...
Last time I talked about planning for your event . Today, I'm looking at the running around you'll be doing, plus a few things to keep in mind for the day-of. Preparing the game There’s lots of things you need to consider when prepping an event, and I’ll go over some obvious (though often overlooked) things here. Location Three quick things you need to consider: bathrooms, food, and garbage cans. Regardless of everything below, make sure these bases are covered...
Running Events As I’m leaving my local gaming community, I thought it was a good time to impart some wisdom regarding event running, something I feel that I’ve spearheaded in the last year or two (though I’m not the only one). This is by no means a definitive guide, but I hope aspiring organizers will find it useful. But I don’t have what it takes to run events! Yes you do. Everyone has the potential to organize events. There is no special degree or course you need to have taken to organize and run games. Every skill you need can be learned with time and practice, and if you don’t have the...
I've done a few blogs over the years, on various subjects, and I've never had any success in keeping them going for more than a few weeks. I'm going to start doing weekly blog posts on the various games I play: mostly 40k and Star Wars Roleplaying*, with a touch of X-wing, Armada, and whatever else tickles my fancy. I'll also be posting some short fiction that I've written which takes place in the 40k universe. Next Wednesday I intend to post the first blog: a guide to running events. A lot of people have been saying what a blow it'll be to GWTW to lose me to Toronto, so I've been working on...
I was in Toronto over the weekend and was lucky enough to play a preview game of Deathwatch: Overkill at the Yonge and Lawrence Games Workshop store. I played the first mission as the Genestealer Cult, watched a few other games, and got an up close look at the new minis. Please enjoy this first impressions review. 60010699004_DeathwatchOverkillENG01.jpg...
I recently rediscovered my blog post regarding 2015's hobby and gaming goals and I figured I should do a follow up post to see how I did. Armies In last year's post I said I was going to focus on tanks for my Storm Guard chapter...and I bought zero tanks. I don't think I actually completed a single Space Marine fig this year. Instead, I've dedicated most of my hobby time to my Dark Eldar. First and foremost, I...
Hey everyone! Apart from being swamped with school, I've been working on a podcast with my friend Jason, who originally got me into 40k many, many moons ago. We've launched the first episode and will be dropping the second this weekend. Give it a listen, like the Facebook page, and feel free to let me know what you think! Episode One of the podcast on SoundCloud. Episode One of the...
I thought I'd write up a bit of fiction to tie up the last campaign before I start the next in earnest. This is roughly based on the final Apocalypse game, butt I may not have gotten all the details right. Nevertheless, enjoy! “Bring it down,” Inquisitor Lynch said into her vox. She stood between two iron monstrosities, observing the wasteland before her, the brown earth now soaked with blood and littered with ash. Off in the distance, barely visible through the rising soot of war, she could make out the gargantuan form of the Eldar titan. Beside her, the Shadowsword’s long Volacano cannon...
This post is inspired by Soban's goals and objectives . Thought I'd hop on the bandwagon and post my own thoughts for the new year. In 2014, I pushed hard to get my 1850pt drop list built up for my Blood Angels successor chapter (the Storm Guard). In the early summer, they went through a major list revision that added 25 more assault marines. I've managed to get almost everything painted, which was way beyond even my own expectations. This army saw lots of infantry, characters, and dreadnoughts. So what's...
Tribune Brutus, Captain of the 1st Company, Centurion Primus 190 points The youngest to ever reach the rank of 1st Company Captain, Brutus is a fiery warrior who distinguished himself during the Lost Worlds Campaign. After the former Tribune fell in battle, Brutus led his terminator squad deep behind enemy lines and slayed the Chaos champion that was leading the army. Though not as skilled as other captains, Brutus fights with a savagery which is only matched by his ambition.
