Mark the date everyone! On February 10th, you are all invited to participate in what could be the largest game we have ever played! This will be a huge 2 team Apocalypse game where I will serve as your organizer and Master of Mayhem! The goal of this is to have as many people as we can and throwdown in perhaps the most epic clash we have seen. Muster as many models as you can and prepare to wage a war unlike any other! Always wanted to field your entire force? Or maybe you don't have a particularily large army and want to participate anyway? Everyone and anyone is welcome to join in this Epic clash! Below are the details of this Apocalyptic showdown.
In order for an event of this size to move along smoothly and at a good pace, a strict registration deadline and time schedule will need to be put in place. When registering for this event, select whatever faction your chosen Warlord will be selected from. players are not limited to bring a single faction and, indeed, can bring as many different factions as you want! This event will use the Narrative Play rules and as such, players should make their lists using the Power Level system. Ignore the 10000 Point limit in the Registraton info as we are using Power Level. Upon your Registration, PLEASE comment below and mention how much Power Level you intend to bring as well as the Warlord you are intending of using and maybe even a little fluff info on your Warlord and army. Could help with secret objective development. If you are not immediately sure who will be your Warlord, I ask that you have it posted by the Registration deadline at the latest. On that topic, the deadline for Registration will be February 7th at 9 p.m. three days prior to the event. This will allow me the time to formulate each player's personal objective (more on that later) and allow me to formulate the teams and give each team a couple days to discuss their battle plan and determine their Warmaster.
THESE ARE THE FINAL TEAMS! Certain players will be asked to bring extra models in the case of last minute drop outs or, in the case of any walk ins adding to an odd PL disparity. Now is the time to get in touch with your teammates and start strategizing!

As was mentioned, a strict time schedule for the game itself will be imperative in order for the game to run at a smooth pace and allow for at least 5 full game turns. In order to do this, the doors to the event will open at 9 a.m. and the game will start at 10 a.m. Players are encouraged to arrive A.S.A.P. in order to setup their armies and discuss last minute strategies. Plus, the sooner everyone arrives, the sooner we can start deployment and get the big show started! Player turns will also be timed and limited to 45 minutes. Any combats that are not completed at the end of any turn will immediately cease. Here is strict time frame showing all scheduled breaks:
9am-10am: Arrival and annoucements
10am-11am: Deployment (Note: Deployment is done using a time bid and this is assuming both teams take max time. This could easily be less and make the event end that much sooner)
11am-11:45am: Team A Turn 1
11:45am-12:30pm: Team B Turn 1
12:30pm-12:45pm: First Break
12:45pm-1:30pm: Team A Turn 2
1:30pm-2:15pm: Team B Turn 2
2:15pm-2:45pm: Lunch Break
2:45pm-3:30pm: Team A Turn 3
3:30pm-4:15pm: Team B Turn 3
4:15pm-4:30pm: Last Break
4:30pm-5:15pm: Team A Turn 4
5:15pm-6:00pm: Team B Turn 4
6:00pm-6:45pm: Team A Turn 5
6:45pm-7:30pm: Team B Turn 5
The Event is set to End at 8pm in case the game runs longer due to players choice or, in the case of delays. It is also very possible that the last couple turns go a little quicker and could make the event end sooner as well. In any case, please plan on staying until 8pm at the latest.
This event will be using the Narrative Play rules along with the following special mission rules below:
- WYSIWYG: What you see is what you get. In Narrative Play, people simply build their armies using Power Levels which is what I expect from everyone participating. In order to facilitate the game and manage units easily for both you and your opponent, no proxying will be allowed. Any upgrades that can be visually represented (special/heavy weapons, wings, etc...) must be. You cannot have your heavy bolter devastators count as lascannons just because lascannons are basically free in a narrative format. This will be enforced strictly and within reason. Certain upgrades don't have models or whatever and that's fine.
- Any weapons with the 'Macro' rule will instead lose this rule. This means that their weapons will not do double damage against TITANIC units and will also allow for those weapons to be fired in overwatch. The main reason for this rule is to allow the very few guys with large models a chance to not have the few big guys shoot each other to death in a single volley on the first turn. Instead, they will enjoy a longer table time in the game and make for alot more fun and destruction!
- Empyric Storms: At the beginning of every Team's turn, I will be randomly determining an effect from the Empyric Storms Battlezone table (re-rolling results that may not apply too well,) and applying it for the entire team.
Secret Objectives: Shortly before the battle, I will be assigning each player a secret objective. These objectives are to be kept hidden from all, including your teammates! Failure to comply could mean that you forfeit your bonus points. These objectives will be a unique task approriate for your chosen Warlord which could include an insane act of heroism or, a treacherous stab in the back to a fellow teammate. Whatever the case, completing your objective will earn your team D3 bonus Victory Points!
Master of Mayhem: I have apointed myself with this special rule to somewhat participate as well as balance the game as I see fit (without becoming a major influence of course). This could be things like objectives suddenly exploding, a fog of war on a certain table, or even a rain of meteors. This rule is also here to stop anyone who plans on abusing the narrative rules meaning, over exploiting certain spells or stratagems to somekind of auto-win condition. This is not to say that players cannot use the same power or statagem multiple times but, done in any ind of "gamey" way will see the Chaos Gods punishing thee. This is apocalypse folks and sometimes, unforseeable things happen ;)
THE MISSION: RACE TO ANNIHILATION!
Teams will be organized shortly after the registration and any last minute swaps due to no shows will be done before each team declares which player will be their Team's Warmaster. The Warmaster will get the final say on any team decision and their chosen warlord (now promoted to Warmaster) is a potential bonus point to the enemy so be wary of who you chose!
For each 4 players, there will be 1 6x4 table. Tables will be linked up lengthwise in a 'U' shape or as close to it as possible. Terrain will be setup by myself. There will also be 6 Objectives on each table that are all equally spaced. 2 in each team's deployment zones, and 2 in no man's land.
Deployment (Dawn of War deployment except 9'' from centre line instead of 12''):
Each side will secretly bid (and write down) the amount of time they want to take to deploy. Bids must be in whole minutes. The amount of time bid is the time that side will have to set up their forces on the battlefield. The side that bid lowest deploys first wholly within the deployment zone of their choice (in the case of a tie, each team's Warmaster roll-off and the winner deploys first). The opposing side than does the same in their deployment zone in the amount of time that side bid.
Any units from either side that are not set up in the amount of time they bid, are instead placed in strategic reserve (see below). Note, this does not apply to units that are deployed using an ability that allows them to be set up elsewhere. Also, no player may deploy his force on more than 1 table and no more than 2 players from the same team may be deployed on the same table. Once the game starts, models are free to move onto any adjacent table they chose.
Please note how much Power Level your list contains. I will then add the PL from both teams. The team with the lowest will be the Underdog team. Should the game end in a tie, the Underdog team will win a minor victory.
The side that deployed first has the first turn. The other side may NOT attempt to seize the initiative.
Any units not set up during deployment are set up in strategic reserves. These units can be set up on the battlefield during any of the game's scheduled breaks, but if they have not been setup by the end of the battle, they count as destroyed.
When a unit arrives from strategic reserve and is set up during a scheduled break it is set up wholly within 6" of that side's deployment edge (models larger than 6" are instead set up touching their side's battlefield edge). If a unit cannot be placed because there is insufficient room, it must wait until the next scheduled break before arriving from strategic reserve.
The game is set to last 5 Turns. We may go a 6th depending on both time and the opinion of the players.
At the end of the game, the team with the most Victory Points wins a major victory. If the game is a tie, the Underdog team wins a minor victory. Victory Points are acheived for the following:
Take and Hold: Each Team scores 1 Victory point for each objective their side controls at the end of each team turn. A side controls an objective if they have more models within 3" than the opposing side.
Slay the Warmaster: If the enemy Warmaster has been slain during the battle, your team receives D3 Victory Points (rolled for by the player who killed the enemy Warmaster).
Titanic Destruction: At the End of the Battle, each side receives 1 Victory Point for each enemy Lord of War choice that has been destroyed.
Secret Objectives: Players who complete their secret objectives also earn D3 Victory Points for their respective teams.
There it is folks. The formula to an apocalyptic day of epic proportions. Suffice to say, I am hoping this turns out to be our biggest Apocalypse game ever so please, don't hesitate to tell your friends and get them to signup right away! I look forward to seeing all oof you at the Great Windsor War!
My Warlord will either be an Archon or a Shadowseer. Haven't decided. I'd like to be on the side of Ruin. My list isn't crafted but I can bring some Chaos to fluff up anyone who doesn't have enough points (like a Lord of Skulls).
